MIDNIGHT RUNS ORGANIZED BY BROTHERHOOD

Temple Israel Brotherhood typically organizes two Midnight Runs per year, each on a Saturday night, from the late Fall through the early Spring. Our Midnight Runs bring clothing and provisions to the homeless in Manhattan at night. Students from the Temple Israel Center for Jewish Learning often participate in Midnight Runs as part of Bar / Bat Mitzvah Service Projects, or for their academic school service hours.

The Midnight Run is a volunteer organization whose goal is to come together as a community in order to feed the homeless of New York City. They coordinate more than 1,000 relief missions per year with volunteers from churches, synagogues, schools and other civic groups to deliver food, clothing, blankets and personal care items to the homeless poor on the streets of New York City.

Make a difference in someone's life today!
Donate warm men's clothing and meatloaves the week before to provide for the Midnight Run.  Other items can be found lower down on this page.

Learn more about Midnight Run by contacting Andrew Bieber, our Midnight Run Coordinator, and by reading What is Midnight Run, written by Steve Samuels.  Please read Sought After Items for more information about the types of clothing and other items we need to collect in preparation for a Midnight Run.  If you are interested in participating, whether you go on the Run or not, we need help at the Temple at 2 PM on the day of the Run to sort clothing and make sandwiches. You'll enjoy the process.

This is a great opportunity for teens to earn community service hours.

Midnight Run is a volunteer organization dedicated to finding a common ground between the housed and the homeless. They coordinate over 1,000 relief missions a year from churches, synagogues, and schools to distribute food, clothing and blankets and personal care items to the homeless on the streets of New York City. This late night effort creates a forum for trust, sharing, and understanding. The human exchange rather than the exchange of goods is what the Midnight Run is all about.
